But way before I married a Storey, I knew I'd be in the story business.
As a kid, I sat at my family's laminate kitchen counter with stacks of notebook paper, making books with god-awful poems about crayons and short stories about princesses. I filled my third grade class's book corner with earnest writings thanks to my kindhearted teacher, Mrs. Green. I loved to write back then and had my own publishing aspirations, but little did I know that I'd have a 25+-year career helping some of the biggest authors and brands tell their stories.
I've worked with small (Eerdmans Books for Young Readers, Longstreet Press, Peachtree Publishing Company) and large publishing houses (HarperCollins Children's Books), indie writers, award-winning talent, and regional and New York Times bestselling authors/classic brands such as Isabel Allende, Jamie Lee Curtis, Alice Faye Duncan, Mary Englebreit, Jeff Foxworthy, Neil Gaiman, Emeril Lagasse, Cynthia Levinson, Chris Raschka, Maurice Sendak, Shel Silverstein, Lemony Snicket, and Rosemary Wells, just to name a few. I've promoted books in every category -- from fiction to nonfiction, from biographies, business, cookbooks, gardening, gift, humor, and lifestyle to children's picture books, middle grade, and young adult.
However, stories aren’t just told in books. I've also honed my strategic storytelling skills through years of work with leading communications agencies like Manning, Selvage & Lee (now MSL Group), Weber Shandwick, and KEF Media, where I put my creative energy behind global brands and companies such as Brinker International, Chick-fil-A, Coca-Cola, Cox, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Philips, Porsche, and Sonic, helping them share their narratives across broadcast, print, and digital platforms. I've worked with spokespersons and thought leaders in a variety of businesses and industries. I've learned what makes something or someone special and how to maximize a brand promise.
Let me put this combination of experience to work for YOU.
